17 days bleeding - dienogest???
Post Content
This is more of a rant as I am currently waiting to see my consultant about having surgery, but there is a question. I was diagnosed with Endo in 2018 during a laparoscopy. My treatment after was the coil and prostap and zoledex. I've since then had two children and my symptoms are back and have been annoying me for the last 3 years! My period is normally irregular. I have what I call my real period for about 7-9 days and then straight after I bleed again but the bleed is different in colour and consistency. I call this my Endo bleed. It can last for about 5 days. I've recently started dienogest. I started my first tablet a few days before my period was due. My period didn't come. 8 days after my period was due I started bleeding, but it was an Endo type bleed. And I'm still bleeding 17 days later. It's a medium to light flow but has been consistent over these days. Is it possible dienogest is causing this, or is it just a coincidence? I'm wondering if the dienogest stopped my period, but couldn't control my Endo bleed? Or maybe the dienogest is releasing my period but at a much slower rate and for some reason it just mimics my Endo bleed? I don't know if I should carry on taking it as I'm still in pain, bleeding and as fatigued as ever! I'm contemplating asking my GP to prescribe tranexamic acid to try and stop the bleeding. Either way, I'm absolutely exhausted of this. I already am anemic, have M.E., Hypothyroidism and fibromyalgia. All of these I just know are a result of my endometriosis! I just want all of this to go away so I can be a great mum and wife and get back to my little business. 😔
