Annoyed with delays

Post Content

Hello! I was prescribed Zepbound on 1/19. My heathcare provider prescribed both the 2.5mg and 5mg dosages. My insurance covers the medication but requires pre authorization. It took about a week and a half for the first approval. When I checked the paperwork, the insurance and healthcare provider approved the 5mg. Thought it was odd to first approve the 5mg, so I to ask for guidance from my dr. office. The receptionist stated she would escalate my inquiry to the pre authorization team to manage. Within 2 days, I received the insurance denial for 2.5 mg on 1/30. I filled the 5mg prescription on 2/3 as it was approved and waited to take the first dose on 2/7 before bed. I had minimal side effects & made sure to keep hydrated while trying to eat enough calories. However, I received a call from my dr office to follow up on the next steps this past Tuesday. The person I was chatting with stated my insurance denied zepbound, so they wanted to try the a different medication route. I informed them there might be confusion as the 5mg dosage was approved but not the 2.5mg from the insurance. I continued to state my running speculation is that the 5mg was approved first, so they denied the 2.5mg (duplication was noted as the reasoning). She puts me on hold and then comes back on the line to say they are going to send the prescription to my pharmacy to see if it goes through. Then she stated I should wait to take the 5mg shot as it's unsafe 😳 I told that I took the first shot during the weekend. It was 1 day shy from 2 weeks since I last heard from the dr's office. Maybe I should've known not to take the 5mg dosage 🤷🏽‍♀️. She ended up putting me on hold again, then returns. First, she asked how I was feeling. Then she reiterated that the 5mg is not safe to take without having taken the 2.5 dosage first and that she will put it on her notes that I was informed me. Kinda curious if the notes state I disregarded the warning... Anywho, it seemed like the next step was to try to fill the 2.5mg. Which I attempted the day of. My pharmacy left me an automatic message within the next hour or two to let me know the prescription is not ready for a refill its to early since I filled the previous script. I ended up calling my dr office back the next day to let them know my pharmacy will not fill the 2.5mg until an alotted time has passed. Additionally, I wanted to confirm I should not take the next dose. The person who answered said she would need to follow up with my healthcare provider. I received the follow-up today, and I'm not sure if im SOL for the next week and half to two weeks. The person I previously talked to on Tuesday called. I answered, we did our greetings, then she proceeded to state, per our last conconversation, it is unsafe to take the 5mg. That was the end of the follow-up update she had for me. She didn't have answers if there's anything I can do to get the script filled early or if my insurance will even cover the 2.5mg. This seems weird for the lack of communication, frustrated with not understanding the purpose of approving the 5mg first, and I am getting annoyed with all the waiting. Sorry, I just wanted to vent lol I guess the brightside my side effects were minimal this past week on the 5mg. When I am able to restart on the 2.5mg, maybe the side effects will continue to be minimal 😊
