Newly diagnosed with mild acne rosacea - is this treatment plan necessary for my wedding in 4.5 months?
Post Content
I (31F) was diagnosed with acne rosacea last week after finally seeing a derm about skin that's been flaring up. (Side note - the derm was really lovely and really listened to my whole situation) Anyway, It's definitely mild and whilst it bothers me, it's not severe. I'm getting married in late June (4.5 months away) which I mentioned to the derm. She's prescribed: Lymecycline (antibiotic) - daily for 4 months Soolantra (ivermectin) - twice daily Azelaic acid - on active spots only Vitamin C serum Bioderma rosacea-specific skincare BBL (broadband light therapy) - she wouldn't normally recommend this straight away but suggested it given the wedding timeline I'm starting BBL on Monday and will be done by mid-April. My concerns: I have very sensitive skin and I'm nervous about adding in everything at once and about taking antibiotics. Lymecycline causes photosensitivity which means: No laser hair removal (I'm mid-way through a course that expires in November - £500 worth of sessions left) No tanning/limited sun exposure (I love being in the sun, have olive skin, and we're honeymooning somewhere sunny) My gut is telling me not to take the antibiotics at all. I'm wondering if BBL + Soolantra + azelaic acid would be enough for mild rosacea, especially since I've only got 4.5 months? Has anyone managed mild rosacea without antibiotics? Is the photosensitivity worth it? Would you skip the Lymecycline in my position? Any advice appreciated!
