GLP-1 meds for Lupus?
Post Content
My wife (30F) has had Lupus since her early 20s. She was just recently diagnosed officially after having been through a battery of tests and work up by various specialists. Thankfully, several years ago a nurse practitioner having background in endocrinology had the forethought to put her on a GLP-1 medication during a time period when my wife was having trouble managing her blood sugars. She had never been diabetic and has remained as such. We now realize that it was her Lupus attacking her pancreas during this time. However, this medication Zepbound has continued to be extremely helpful in reducing her systemic inflammation. Does anyone else in this sub have experience with the use of GLP-1 meds for management of Lupus symptoms? Can someone explain the pharmacology and mechanism of action regarding why this med would help reduce inflammation to such a considerable degree?
