Question about Dosing Spironolactone

My doctor has me on spironolactone and prescribed 1 pill a day. Am I better off splitting this and taking half every 12 hours or just taking it once a day? I failed to ask her when I was in the office and she's impossible to reach when I'm not sitting in front of her.
