Hi all, so i have seborrheic dermatitis and due to two year long stressful period in my life i lost nearly half of my hair. For 6 months straight i lost a handful of hair during hair wash. I thought i would go bald and started to see my hairline receding. I changed a couple pf things that changed everything for me and i have baby hairs growing back on my front hairline and almost no more hair loss during wash: 1) i started washing my hair on time- i have very oily scalp and also Seb dermatitis. I learnt that i lose hair if i don’t wash regularly because my hair follicles are basically clogged. Now i was every two days instead of every 3-4 days. Training my hair simply didn’t work for me. 2) started consuming red meat 2-3 times a week for dinner. Before i ate red meat only once a week and the rest of the days i ate chicken and only for dinner. I assume i was just not consuming enough of protein in general and after doing my research i found out hair needs protein and animal protein unfortunately gets absorbed better than plant protein. So i will never be a vegan after this experience. Now i make sure to eat red meat more often and if i fail that i start losing hair. So i probably increased my iron storage and that helped with hair loss. Mind you i used to take iron tablets before this change and it only messed up my gut without helping with hair. So red meat protocol works better for me rather than iron pills (i assume it’s because red meat also contains other B vitamins which are important for hair health). 3) i started washing my hair once a week with a sulfate shampoo. Earlier i thought that sulfates are evil and i need an all natural shampoo but apparently people with oily scalp and seb dermatitis should wash at least once a week with a sulfate shampoo (do research and choose a mild sulfate shampoo and not a harsh shampoo). Sulfates cleanses the oil and scalp build up on the scalp clogging the pores and non-sulfate shampoo simply won’t be enough for oily scalp people. 4) i started using red light therapy. This change i started implementing only 3 weeks ago and i stopped losing hair before this already. So this means the above changes were already enough to stop shedding. 5) last but not least important, i managed my stress levels and lowered my cortisol and started sleeping well. I went to therapy, did EMDR and somatic therapy to lower my chronic stress levels. I finally started sleeping deeply around November 2025 and that’s when my hair stopped shedding finally. So i think this was a huge junk of the problem. My hair now is shiny, thicker and i still have baby hair popping out for 4 months straight. And i lose about 5-8 hairs during a wash!
