chronic migraines effectively nuked my gpa sophomore year and have hurt my gpa this year, which also effect the # of scholarship opportunities i have i have scored relatively high on standardized test benchmarks, (1510 all time on practice sat, 31 on practice act) on the psat i scored 1380/1520 which was kind of disappointing to me but i had done average prep at that point my gpa is currently at 3.0/4.0, i am ranked 63/164 in my class i plan to try to get the highest test scores i can get, i have been prepping for my AP tests rigorously too, as my school offers transcript changes to an A(94) if i get a 4 or 5 the main struggle hurting my gpa is attendance. my teachers are pretty much bare minimum when it comes to working with me, and i have to remind them frequently (pretty much every time) about my 504 plan whenever turning in stuff late due to attendance (i have missed about 1-2 days every week of school since sophomore year, 32 absent out of 109 days this school year) this sucks because i have anxiety and issues confronting a problem and speaking up i try really hard not to miss, but i am struggling get approved for my medications that actually help since im not 18 yet, and have been relying on like 10 samples of ubrelvy every 6 months i am proud of what i’ve achieved with my attendance and struggles, however my main worry is that i won’t be able to get into any of my dream colleges which are competitive and selective. my highest reaches are northwestern, emory, and still selective but more achievable purdue and auburn i plan on taking 15 advanced placement exams, currently enrolled in 8 this year, possibly substituting some next year with dual credit. my gpa can still dramatically improve based on my test scores and performance, but 2/7 of my teachers seem to actually cooperate with me for me to get my work done. technically, my gpa should be between 3.1-3.2, as my lowest grade were Ds in 2 AP classes which I got a 4 on both exams on, meaning i should get an A, but my guidance counselor hasn’t changed my transcript yet even though ive met with them about it twice. besides that, i plan on addressing my low gpa (for selective school standards) in my application, and i want to score as high as possible on standardized tests for an alternative reflection of my academic potential. i feel like it’s embarrassing to have a lower gpa compared to my peers, especially since it’s not even the exams i do poorly on, its the fucking daily work & projects. realistically, what are my chances with some of these selective schools, what could i do to improve them, does anyone have person experience applying to these schools with migraines thank you for reading
