advice please!

for background: i’m 38, have normal/oily skin, have never used makeup beyond mascara and eyeliner, spent all of my life only using SPF and washing my face with soap/water but replaced soap with cerave hydrating facial cleanser a couple years ago and moisturizing with cerave daily moisturizing lotion and using one of those little handheld red light things which i doubt does anything but feels good to use 😅. i only tend to break out around my period but otherwise don’t have much issue with my skin. though at this point i am noticing more discoloration, some wrinkles and my skin just looking tired. i was on the hunt for a better skin routine to help try and at least soften the aging process as i’m inching closer to 40 and my doctor recommended tretinoin and prescribed me .025%. i’ve been reading through posts and i see a lot of people saying to sandwich it with moisturizer and start slow. all my doctor said was to use it daily so she hasn’t been much help otherwise. is daily safe to start with? what would building it up gradually look like? are my current 2 products safe to use with it? is my moisturizer powerful enough or is there a better one to try? i’m also a mom and don’t have a ton of time for a 20 step routine so the simpler the better. any help is massively appreciated!
