tldr: how to manage menopause with chronic illness. Hello, I need some advice/support from women who are approaching/going through/gone through menopause with chronic illness. So like many of you, I have a whole list of issues including HSD (multisystem issues) ME/CFS, POTS, IBS (going through testing for possible IBD atm) luekapenia, iron deficiency anemia and PCOS, fibroids and menorrhagia. Medication and food reactive. My baseline is very low and I'm in the moderate -severe category with my ME/CFS and have spent the last 2 years housebound/bed bound and needing daily support. My tummy issues are also significant and I have lost 28% of my body weight in 10 months and I am now under a dietician and on prescription liquid food. That's a bit of background but I'm looking for advice on how to manage menopause when you're already managing all the above. I have been noticing changes for a while now, hair falling out, changing, my body hair becoming coarser, skin changes, the witching out night sweats just to name a few. My periods have always been a struggle with the pcos, fibroids and menorrhagia, I am medicated to try and help which has helped until recently (I am unable to take any medication that affects my hormones though) last month and this month however have been horrific, I already have to take iron supplements but it hasn't been enough and after the first 2 days of an extremely heavy period my iron levels dropped so fast it caused a huge sudden crash and I am now on day 3 of not even being able to sit up unassisted in bed. I can for periods of time now spend some time on my phone, hold a small conversation but it's been horrible and I've mostly been asleep or in a state that's basically a vegetable. I know things get worse with menopause before they get better but I'm concerned that this is going to start permanently lowering my baseline and that scares me as it's already very low. Does anyone have any advice for how to get through this, things that have helped? I am obviously going to speak to my Dr but because of my history with hormone medication I'm not sure if I'd even be able to try things like HRT.
