Had to call pharmacy to re setup savings card after switching to 5mg
Post Content
I just met with my PCP yesterday to discuss moving up to the 5mg dose and she put the new prescription in. I saw the new prescription in my hospital’s chart app and on the pharmacy’s app but did not get any text saying the medication was ready like I was expecting. This morning I got a text from my insurance company letting me know the PA was denied as the medicine is not covered at all, which was expected as well. But still no communication from the pharmacy itself. I tried using the pharmacy’s automated system to see if the medication was ready for pickup and it said it hadn’t been requested yet. Finally I spoke to a pharmacist and they said that they saw the prescription but it would cost $1500 (I don’t know if they were exaggerating or not because I thought the full cost was around $1100?) I explained that I’m doing self pay and using the savings card and that it sounded like I needed to set that up again for the new dose. He transferred me to another pharmacist who was able to find the savings card information already saved for my 2.5 dose but she couldn’t get it to work. I was in the process of sending in the Savings Card instructions for the pharmacist to them again when she suddenly was able to get it to work and confirmed the price will be $499, but I’ll have to wait to pick it up until tomorrow because they need to order that dose. I asked if I’ll need to call to set up the savings card if I change doses again and she said I probably will. Not sure if this is normal or not but just wanted to share that experience in case anyone ends up sitting around waiting for a “your prescription is ready for pickup” text that’s never coming like I was.
