Why did our parents force us into so much shit that made us uncomfortable as kids?

Wheather it was forcing you into a school play, forcing you to learn an instrument as a shcool program that will have lead up to preform in front of the entire school or forcing you to interact with people without your consent. So much trauma could have been easily avoided if none of this happened. Or, well, this is my experience. Not sure if this is the norm. I wish this disorder was seen a more serious illness than whatever joke it's played off to be
