ADHD and fatigue

Post Content

Recently learned I have ADHD in my late 30's. I have been great about having my life in order, setting goals, etc. However, my entire life, I have been tired and unable to get up early in the morning. The prospect of having to be somewhere early required planning and stress because I know how tired I will be. I like getting up early in the morning and I've done it for short periods of time over the years, but I consistently am too tired to get up. I have lab tests done a few times a year for thyroid (which is managed) and other deficiencies (iron, Vit D, etc). No matter how much sleep I get, I just can't wake up in the morning. I suspect I might have a sleep disorder since I have never slept well (even as a toddler), but I've also heard that this is a common ADHD symptom. Having a baby has only made this all worse. I'm wondering if anyone found a way to hack this? Did ADHD medication help? I was recently prescribed meds to try but I'm a little afraid to.
