Would you spend $$$ on an MRI if your hormones seem to be functioning normally?

Post Content

F, 30, USA I had a CT non contrast in the ER for severe vertigo in July ‘25. The drs said the CT was “clear” and diagnosed me with inner ear vertigo, which resolved in about 2 weeks. Then I read the CT details recently, and the notes state I have an enlarged pituitary gland (16mm, 8-10 is average for my age), which could be a possible micro adenoma. I’ve done hormonal testing with my PCP which are all in normal range (luteinizing hormone, TSH, cortisol), but between the vertigo and significant weight gain/distribution changes (gained 60lbs, boobs have gone from Bs to Es) in the past year and a half, I am slightly concerned that there is something going on. Here’s the issue: the MRI with contrast that would determine if my large pituitary is a micro adenoma, will cost me $750 after insurance. This is a LOT for me currently, and would go on credit to be paid off slowly, not ideal. Is it “worth it” to get an MRI if nothing seems wrong with my blood tests, and I’m not having symptoms of a tumor? Edit: may be relevant that I am diagnosed with ITP and bipolar, and take mood stabilizers, anti depressant, and a bone marrow stimulant daily
