Sharing our experience supporting PCOS, it does get better

Post Content

Hi everyone, I wanted to share our experience in case it helps someone who’s struggling right now. My partner was diagnosed with PCOS a while ago, and some of the symptoms hit her hard, especially increased body hair and weight gain. At the beginning, it was really overwhelming for her, and for me too, because I could see how much it affected her confidence and mental health. What helped most was treating this as our problem, not something she had to deal with alone. From a mindset perspective, we focused a lot on reminding ourselves that PCOS isn’t her fault and isn’t a “failure” of her body. Progress is slow, and that’s okay. We also made changes together: Diet: We aimed for a more balanced diet, trying new recipes, ensuring we got as much protein and fiber as possible. She reduced her intake of sweets and milk, switching to low-fat Greek yogurt and chia seeds (she prefers thicker yogurt, like fage. Workout: To help with weight loss, we choose gentle, sustainable exercises after meals, such as planks and yoga. Drinking lemon water is a great way to stay hydrated. Hair Removal: Excessive hair growth increases her stress, which can worsen symptoms and inflammation. We're currently using at-home hair removal with ulike IPL we've been using, but we're considering permanent electrolysis because we've been told that laser hair removal can be affected by hormone levels. Medical: regular checkups and following the doctor’s advice for metformin. After going back to the hospital for follow-ups, some of her indicators have improved. She’s not “cured” and we know PCOS takes time and long-term management but things are moving in the right direction. I really want to say this: PCOS is not a dead end. It’s not easy, but with patience, support, and the right approach, things can get better. And Any advice regarding PCOS is welcome, as we still need to continue treatment. We will provide further updates in a while.
