Pigging out once a month, is it affecting my progress?

Post Content

I am on a quite strict low-carb diet (<50g carbs/day), with some days being full-blown keto. I was allowed (and even recommended) 2 cheat meals/week by a health professional, but I'm actually quite irregular with that. I would go weeks sometimes without a single cheat food item. I've made considerable progress in my weight loss (SW: 110kg, CW: 67kg), but the issue is that around every month or so, I will pig out. This entails going to KFC and ordering 2 double downs and a zinger burger with extra cheese, after which I would have an ice cream bar (2200+ calories total). Or getting a massive dessert at a chocolate restaurant, or simply pig out at an all-you-can-eat buffet (starter, main course BBQ, and lots of dessert) where I am not watching carbs or calories. In all these situations, I would feel quite stuffed immediately afterwards, but satisfied at the fact that I've finally let myself go of the shackles of my diet. However, a couple of hours later, I would start to feel really bad about what I did and wonder if I had done serious damage. The question is, is this once-a-month piggy feast eating into my progress? I do notice long periods of time where I don't lose any weight or even gain 0.5-1kg, but I know weight loss isn't linear, and I'm quite close to my goal weight (62kg).
