Left Sided - Sinus Pain - Confusion with Diagnosis and Treatment -

Post Content

After months of debilitating pain, I had a CT scan of the sinuses, results as follows: \-“Severe chronic left anterior compartment paranasal sinus disease” \-“Left-sided nasal polyp (\~1.4 cm)” \-“Completely opacified left osteomeatal unit” \-“Subtotally opacified left maxillary sinus” \-“Coarse calcification in the left maxillary antrum” \-“Inverted papilloma should also be considered” \-Went to ENT for the first time two months ago. He gave me an antibiotic, and said surgery was likely. He gave me a rigid nasal scope. \-Went back to the ENT 1.5 months ago for F/U. Diagnosed me with Allergic Rhinitis. Prescribed me Azalestine. Mentioned possible allergy testing. \-Today went back for another follow up. Explained to him that I just had been sick for six weeks, with constant sinus pain, pressure etc. That last night I expelled a mucus plug that was big, round and hard after weeks of having a sewage foul scent, and that it feels like a marble is stuck up there. New diagnosis - dry nasal cavaties (I am only having a problem with my left side). Told me to do sinus rinses two times a day. A saline spray as well. A humidier and prescribed me petroleum type jelly stuff to make sure my nose stays moist. Game plan: 2 month follow up. Said it would take at least two months to work and clear my problem. My confusion in all of this: After previously mentioning an allergist, my husband asked if we should do allergy testing. He said sure. Didn't even seem to need/want it anymore? Then he then asked me the last time I got a CT scan, I told him November. (Now I'm concerned because it's like he didn't even look at it originally?) I'm feeling like a medical ping pong ball here.... Should I get a second opinion? I've already sank in about $1400 to this guy, but every time I go I just don't understand what's happening to me. I get sick for 6-10 weeks at a time and I have 4-10 day breaks between episodes. Pictures of CT scan and mucus ball in comments
