High TSH - Can This Cause Hair Shedding Despite Seeing Most Shedding in AGA Zones?

Post Content

I got my blood work done December of 2024 and December of 2025. In 2024, my TSH was 3.49. In 2025, it came back at 6.92. Excessive hair shedding is the only symptom that I have that aligns with high TSH. I am wondering if this is why I see a ton of hair fall in the shower (like 300+ a day)? There are 2 things that make me skeptical if this is the cause though. 1. I mainly am seeing hair on the top of my head shed excessively. Yes, I am on fin and min, but I have had the excessive shedding before starting meds so that cannot be the only cause. If it was due to the high TSH, wouldn't I be shedding excessively on the sides and back too? 2. My shedding has been equally high between the 2 tests. So unless the first test was for some reason inaccurate, wouldn't I have seen an increase in shedding as the TSH went up if that were the true cause? If anyone has dealt with receiving a high TSH on a blood test or has any knowledge regarding thyroid issues and hair, please share!
