[routine help] Bloodshot/glassy eyes after skincare and makeup routine change.

Post Content

The issue: after switching up my makeup and skincare routine, my eyes are constantly bloodshot and I can’t figure out which product is causing it (my eyes don’t hurt, they’re just bloodshot and glassy). Prior skincare routine: basically nothing. For my whole life I’ve washed my face with regular soap and moisturized with body lotion (lately it has been Derma-E unscented). But now I want something better for my skin, specifically for my rosacea and aging. My question: has anyone else had this problem? If so, what ended up being the culprit and what fixed it? Also how long did it take the bloodshot appearance to clear up once you addressed the issue? Additional information: I initially changed all my skincare all at once. Once I realized this was a bad idea, I went back and reintroduced everything one product at a time. I suspect it’s my La Roche Posay hydrating gentle cleanser which is sad because I otherwise love it. I’m leaning toward this being the cause because it’s been the only product I’ve used constantly since the beginning of the switch, which is when the eye issue started. The other things I changed (moisturizer and all makeup) were switched up more than once, though I guess it’s possible it’s caused by the same ingredient present in all the new eyeshadows I’ve tried, for example. I’m not interested in the kind of eye drops that cut off the oxygen to the blood vessels in your eyes, I’d rather just find the route cause (I’ve since been using optase glycerine drops though, in case this is dry-eye). Help please!
