What to eat in a flare up as an vegan?

Post Content

I’m not formally diagnosed with IBD but I’ve had severe symptoms that completely align with it and have sent me to the ER three times. So hopefully that’s a badge of honour to be able to post here lol. I had a flareup because I missed one meal and it’s set my body into complete shutdown, basically. I had blood in every bowel movement and increased urgency, and the whole deal. Because of how bad the symptoms have been I’ve had to stop being vegan. I’ve been living off of liquid foods and jello’s to help stabilise myself, but I’m slowly wanting to reintroduce some solid foods. The only problem is that I’m not sure what is to introduce yet, because my stomach is sensitive and I was vegan. I’ve started eating eggs to stave away the weight loss and I’ve been able to keep that down. But I’m unsure if it’s safe to introduce any chicken or tuna into my diet, especially with how sensitive everything is. Has anyone had a similar experience? I would really appreciate any advice, because none of the doctors want to give me dietary advice and I’m losing weight :(
