Don’t be scared!

Post Content

Hi all! I’m on my 3rd injection of semaglutide 2.5mg and I just want to share my experiences for those who are feeling scared. First I want to share that I’m starting this medication because my labs have been trending in unfavorable ways and with a strong family history of metabolic syndrome and other conditions we want to prevent things from getting worse. I have a history of pretty bad chronic GI issues (IBS mixed, SIBO, small intestine erosion, etc.) but honestly it’s been mostly fine. Things I did before my first injection 1. Got a prescription for zofran just in case 2. Picked up some miralax just in case 3. Ate a low fat dinner early the evening before my first injection Week 1: Less food noise, full signals much clearer, no cravings, mild nausea if I ate too late at night, mild diarrhea Effects ended about 5 days post injection Week 2: Slight increase in GI symptoms especially if I ignore the full signals even by a bite or two, some nightmares and difficulty falling asleep, less desire to doom scroll, better mood, better focus and attention. Effects lasted until injection morning. Week 3: too soon for a full report but basically the same as week 1 but have reduced dietary fat to prevent the increase in nausea experienced in week 2. So far I’ve lost 10 pounds, mostly fluid obviously but that alone has helped with joint pain. Practical tips I really think helped: \- Injecting at night \- eating lower fat before injection \- having dinner earlier to prevent nausea and indigestion \- stop eating when fullness is a 4 and wait 30min if you’re still hungry you can snack but it’s not worth the risk of overeating and the pain that causes \- Eat unbrearingly slowly \- Don’t skip meals the nausea and dizziness from low blood sugar doesn’t help I know it’s early to say all this but I know I really could’ve benefited from someone telling me it’ll be okay!
