I don’t know how to be a patient.

Preface: I am a healthcare professional and I don’t know how to wear the shoe on the other foot. I suck at being a patient. Chief Problems (ADHD): task delay leading to procrastination, impulsivity, temper, binge eating That being said, I need help finding out ways to advocate for myself because I don’t want to come off as rude to my PCP. I was diagnosed with ADHD a little over a year ago and started medication thereafter. I was started on generic 10mg adderall xr, but that made me CRASH ≈ 3 hours later so I raised flags then. After that I was switched over to generic 30 mg vyvanse. Did that for about 9 months and just recently titrated up to 40 mg generic vyvanse. I feel like Vyvanse isn’t doing anything for me except causing a crash with massive mood swings 8 hours later. My experience with meds has been generally unimpressive and I think that’s because I SUCK at advocating for my own healthcare. I’ve been gaining interest in Azstarys but I have no idea how to bring that up to my doctor before my quarterly appointment (April) because my office doesn’t have secure chat or anything along those lines. But I think the fact that my pharmacy never has Vyvanse in stock along with the fact that it’s not impressive is making me want to switch quickly. With this, can yall help provide me insight into how to be a better advocate for my own healthcare? How did yall deal with Vyvanse being a “meh” drug?
