[Review] For acne-prone skin (Combination and sensitive)- Very Detailed
Post Content
I ALMOST made my skin clear and glowy. Will hopefully be fully clear by the end of this year. What I know my skin can't handle: Castor oil- I know this because I used castor oil on my skin a few years ago because my skin felt dry. Few mins after washing it off, I had rashes bad small bumps which looked like it has puss in. All over my cheeks. The same thing happened on my cheek when i used a blush containing castor oil. Something like fungal acne, this never happened otherwise. Some of the makeup products that REALLY didn't work- Elf camo liquid blush (i think it's the castor oil in it), nyx concealer stick, nyx buttermelt glaze skin tint, loreal lumi glotion (Note: I don't know if its both the buttermelt glaze and lumi glotion or just one of them because they were the only products i used on my skin at that time besides moisturizer and spf of course. I mixed both and had closed comedones, something I never had before. I'm not willing to put my skin through it again just to figure out which of the 2 caused it). What I know works for me: Might be the same for you, might not. I know there's no such thing as acne causing/comedogenic ingredient list that fits for all but I didn't wanna trial and error to figure out what works. I found this: [https://acneclinicnyc.com/pore-clogging-ingredients/](https://acneclinicnyc.com/pore-clogging-ingredients/) in one of the skincare sub comments and it's been great help. It's annoying because a lot of products have at least one ingredient from the list on this website. But if you wanna find a temporary shortcut for what might not work, this site has helped! Products I use with explanation (Everything's unscented except for the cleansing balm): It's more a 3-4 step routine if you don't count cleansing. 5-6 step including the cleansing. 1. Elf cleansing balm: I know the controversy around elf but it's the only product of theirs I use and works well. Got into double cleansing a couple of months ago and my skin hasn't felt better! -> Scented but isnt strong (kinda like the smell), great ingredient list, does the job! 2. Cerave foaming facewash- Mostly nights. On days i use spf/the cleansing balm. -> Does the job! 3. Cerave creamy cleanser- Most mornings. -> creamy/hydrating, gentle! 4. Pyunkang yul essence toner- Someone suggested it in one of my posts, ITS THE BEST THING EVER. -> Few ingredients, water like, light hydration, makes my skin feel soft/bouncy. 5. g&g B-bomb (10% niacinamide)- I know a lot of people hate niacinamide here but my skin loves it. -> For hydration, acne spots, I also think it helps light texture. The texture of the serum is super light, almost water like and clear. 6. Isntree chestnut 8% aha- I use this 1-2 times a week depending on how my skin feels, only at night. On days that I don't use niacinamide. I could use it with niacinamide but i dont wanna drown my skin in products. For mild exfoliation, makes my skin look glowy and super fresh the next day. -> Literally water consistency. Edit- Also gets rid of the tiny blackheads/mild sebaceous filaments on the nose. 7. Cerave moisturizing cream- I started using this before i found the link for comedogenic ingredient list, It has a couple of ingredients from that list. Works for me. Not looking to change it. -> Thick, I don't think it's very hydrating but at the same time doesn't make my skin feel dry either. Let's say that it doesn't add extra hydration. -> Pro Tip: Lose eye creams if you're only using them for hydration. Apply some extra moisturizer around your eyes. 8. Skin 1004 madagascar centella hyalu-cica water-fit sun serum- The OG. People say it has no whitecast but it does a little. Need to rub it into your skin for a while before the whitecast disppears but for a mineral sunscreen, it's v little whitecast. Makeup that I use and works: Not big on makeup but if hit helps- Loreal true match foundation (the super blendable one, also works as a skin tint with use 3-4 drops), clio lip cheek tap blush. AM routine: \- Cerave creamy cleanser/foaming cleanser \- Pyunkang yul essence toner \- Cerave Moisturizing cream \- Skin 1004 sunscreen Pm routine: \- Elf cleansing balm \- Pyunkang yul essence toner \- g&g niacinamide (4-5 times a week) OR isntree chestnut 8% (1-2 times a week) \- Cerave moisturizing cream I'll try the anua azelaic acid in a few weeks. Once i do and it works. I think all my skin problems will be addressed. Might see a dermatologist next year and get into retinal/ol or another kind of Vit A derivative (next year)! I hope this helps someone and didn't just seem like yapping or a rant!
