Using the same TE vial for a whole 6 months? + more Qs
Post Content
If too long go to bottom! 🙃 So I went to a walk-in clinic and they told me that they wanted to remind me that my vial was almost 4 months old. I thought that was normal, since my endocrinologist had been giving me 1 vial, to use up every 6 months, then discard. Is this safe? I heard a vial should only be kept for 28 days MAX, or discarded after one use. Additionally, I am 18 M, with a condition called XXY, causing infertility, and to be safe my endocrinologist is only giving me a dose of 0.75ml, monthly, and it used to be 0.5ml, monthly for 6 months. I haven’t been taking TE long enough to know everything (less than a year), but should I have a chat with my endocrinologist/family doctor/pharmacist, about the safety of using a vial for that long? Also, does me living in Canada play any factor as to the guidelines I have to follow when using a vial? Also, I have heard my dose is significantly less, and reasons for why it’s a small dose is due to: My child endocrinologist prescribed me with 0.5ml/monthly, but then I turned 18, so I had to go to an adult doctor endocrinologist, and now my TE dosage increased to 0.75mL. I also want a chance to have children. The condition I have which is Klinefelter’s Syndrome (47, XXY) causes infertility, amongst many other things and me taking TE, helps to suppress sperm production, so keeping it low for now is the only choice. Common Features of XXY, include but not limited to: Infertility, Less Muscle Mass, Gynaecomastia, Low Energy, Learning Disabilities, Long Legs —> Taller Height, decreased facial hair growth, amongst many more features Additionally, my TE has gone up from 5.5 to 7.8 (unsure of what the scale is; would like help for that too) READ ME! 😊 TL;DR - Is it safe to use a Hikma TE vial, when getting s small (0.75mL) monthly dose, for 6 months, before I discard it?
