I could use some advice from Perimenopause veterans.

I'm 45 years old and have had mild symptoms for a couple of years. My body has decided it wants to kick into overdrive. I can deal with running hot all the time, I have not had a decline in sex drive, no mood changes. My main problem is my period. I have had a heavy flow period for over 4 weeks now (spotting started 1/10 with full period starting 1/13 to current with no signs of slowing). My primary care doctor just prescribed iron due to my iron stocks being "very very low" and told me to see an OB/GYN for a treatment plan. My appointment with the OB/GYN Is next week. I know I want to ask what we need to do to manage the bleeding, which is my main concern. I've never had issues with anemia in the past so I'm very concerned about that. Is there any procedures or medications I should be looking into, or any questions I should ask to help with this or future symptoms? I'd appreciate any advice.
