Exfoliation?

My face was in desperate need of exfoliation, i used a gentle exfoliating face wash by Philosophy but my Rosacea hates exfoliation so very much, I have made it so angry! Wondering what other people do for exfoliation. Do you all skip it all together, or found products that work for you, etc? I tried to let it go and just use moisturizer twice a day but it needed it so bad, I was so flaky.
