Is the amount of bleeding normal after IUD removal?

Post Content

I’ll be brief! I got my Kyleena (hormonal IUD) removed after over 5 years a week ago. My period also ended about 8 days ago. The IUD was terrible, hurt during sex for 5 years, and I was still having periods twice a month on it anyways. I was spotting a bit after removal, but nothing crazy. The removal was definitely a bit painful- but nothing like the HORROR of it going in. Anyways, so my bf and I were so excited to try without the fear and pain of the IUD poking us. The internet also said I was cool after a week. It didn’t hurt but it didn’t feel great either. After five minutes we turn the lights on and there’s enough blood everywhere to fill a Starbucks grande cup. Pretty shocking for the both of us. Bright red too. I felt woozy but maybe that was just the surprise. That was last night and I’m definitely feeling okay today but still bleeding that bright red blood- not at all like period blood. Also not cramping. Online says that it’s totally normal to spot, and I’m not gushing blood anymore, but yeah not sure if I should see a doctor. Any help appreciated!
