Progesterone question

I’m still having periods in Peri and doctor prescribed continuous progesterone and the estrogen patches. Is this how others have it prescribed? I do have migraines related to my cycle and wondered if that’s why she prescribed it this way. I read online that continuous progesterone is normally for women whose cycles have mainly stopped.
