Level 2 hypertension at 35m

I’ve recently been diagnosed with level 2 hypertension a month ago I was started on a low dose of Ramapril only 2.5mg daily but even with this my blood pressure is still steadily climbing. I don’t have a high salt diet I drink a lot of fluids do regular basic cardio (walk a few miles a day). Is it just a matter of time till the tablets start working or will the dose need to be raised. Thank you
