treating anxiety with stimulants (cw: drug use)
Post Content
hi everyone! i'm wondering if anyone of you have explored stimulants as a treatment for anxiety. at least for me, my anxiety isn't manifested as endless energy, but as constant rumination, worry, and fixation on things i don't want to be fixated on to the point where i struggle to focus or get things done. that's a much bigger issue for me than the racing heart, which i do experience. i've found that i feel like i can get myself out of that headspace and also just get stuck so much less when i've done non-prescribed and illegal stimulants recreationally and occasionally. i already feel so stuck in my head i feel sluggish and lazy from the internal war that i worry that benzos would add to that. however you personally feel about recreational drug use, i've been on so many SSRI and SNRI throughout my life but nothing has worked quite like 10 mg adderall XR. has anyone had similar discussions with psychiatrists or have you tried stimulants as treatment?
